Bitstamp recently announced that the Chief Executive Officer Julian Sawyer has departed from the company, and the Europe CEO JB Graftieaux was promoted to replace him.
Sawyer Looks Forward To Other Opportunities
A statement by the crypto exchange highlights that Sawyer has taken a decision to pursue other opportunities. He was part of the company for 18 months.
Whereas Graftieaux served as the exchange’s Chief Compliance Officer between November 2014 and February 2016, after which he took a leave for a five-year stint at eBay. And only a year ago, he rejoined Bitstamp as Europe CEO.
According to the chairman of Bitstamp, Nicolas Huss, JB was with Bitstamp in its initial days. And he has admirably led his European business over the past year. And that they are pleased to welcome a CEO with such a track record, and they look forward to the contribution and perspective he would bring along with this role in the company.
Bitstamp is a Luxembourg-based cryptocurrency exchange that was founded in the year 2011 and is currently the fourth-largest cryptocurrency exchange with respect to its trading volume. This also makes it the leading crypto exchange in Europe. The company has an employee base of more than 500.
Earlier, the exchange rolled out a crypto-as-a-service product in South and North America. It has run the offering for institutional clients in Europe for the last five years. Bitstamp was acquired by NXMH, the private equity firm, in 2018. The platform smoothens the process for banks and financial services firms to provide crypto trading services to their customers.
