 
 
Hours after Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) forecasted an imminent boom in cryptocurrency prices, several experts are making a case for caution. However, recent on-chain reports suggest heavy institutional accumulation of cryptocurrencies amid a string of regulatory positives in the US.
CZ Eyes Imminent Crypto Supercycle In 2026
Binance founder CZ has predicted that Bitcoin (BTC) and the broader cryptocurrency market will undergo an extended rally in the coming months, breaking away from the four-year historical cycles.
CZ disclosed his forecast in an X post, tipping the market to experience an imminent “Super Cycle.” However, the Binance founder clarified that his prediction hangs in the balance of probabilities, and prices may remain lukewarm for an extended period.
“I could be wrong, but Super Cycle incoming,” wrote CZ.
His post was a response to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) removing cryptocurrencies from its list of priority risks in 2026. Since 2023, the SEC has viewed cryptocurrencies as a priority risk area, underscored by a raft of high-profile lawsuits against industry service providers.
Given the new stance by the securities watchdog, CZ is eyeing a boom in crypto activity in the US. Recall that CZ received a pardon by US President Donald Trump in Q4 2025, while the SEC ended its long-running case against Binance.
Already, CZ has a finger on the pulse of institutional crypto purchases in recent weeks, with the Binance founder acknowledging Wells Fargo’s near-$400 million Bitcoin purchase. Furthermore, he circulated a tweet of a Satoshi-era whale purchasing 26,900 BTC valued at $2.45 billion.
“While you were panic selling, US banks were loading up on Bitcoin,” said CZ.
Analysts Push For Caution
Following CZ’s predictions, several analysts noted that the possibility of a crypto Super Cycle is slim. Finance expert Rajat Soni noted that there is a real possibility that cryptocurrency prices will record unimpressive returns throughout 2025 after a lackluster start to 2026.
“If you think a supercycle is coming because of this tweet, you are going to be very disappointed,” said Soni. “Lower your expectations.”
 
Crypto analyst Willy Woo is eyeing a short-term BTC price rally to $100,000 while other pundits are baulking at the $463 million in net purchases to carry prices to six figures. With prices remaining under $91K, CZ tempered the hype around a near-term price surge, urging investors to “keep stacking” BTC at current levels.
