The tally of cryptocurrency donations sent to Ukraine’s government and NGOs since the start of its armed conflict with Russia is nearing $10 million, including $1.86 million from one NFT (non-fungible token) collection, according to blockchain analytics firm Elliptic.
That total is rising rapidly as donations pour in for what’s been dubbed the “world’s first crypto war.”
The crypto war chest includes a single donation of $1.86 million that “appears to have originated,” Elliptic wrote, from the NFT collection “Censored” created by digital artist Pak and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
The government of Ukraine also tweeted from its official account on Saturday that it was “now accepting cryptocurrency donations.”
Stand with the people of Ukraine. Now accepting cryptocurrency donations. Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, who earlier this week tweeted, “Ethereum is neutral, but I am not,” and called Russia’s invasion “a crime,” was among the many crypto leaders on Saturday who pointed followers to UkraineDAO, co-founded by Pussy Riot, Trippy Labs, and members of PleasrDAO.
“An opportunity to support Ukrainians here!” Buterin wrote. “Proceeds go to civilian efforts helping Ukrainians suffering from the war.”
Decrypt will continue to update this post with the latest totals for crypto donations to Ukraine.
