A new study from crypto asset manager CoinShares reveals a growing disconnect between wealthy investors and their financial advisors when it comes to digital asset expertise.
While most high-net-worth individuals are eager for professional crypto guidance, many remain skeptical of their advisors’ readiness to deliver it.
According to the survey of 500 investors, including high- and sub-high-net-worth individuals, 82% said they are more likely to work with a financial advisor who offers crypto investment support. Yet 29% cited advisors’ lack of personal experience or poor risk explanation as critical concerns — indicating a credibility gap in the industry.
“Investors are becoming more involved and self-educated, but they still want trusted partners,” said Jean-Marie Mognetti, CEO of CoinShares. “Advisors who commit to understanding crypto have a real opportunity to stand out in a competitive market.”
Crypto Now Core to Wealth Strategy
The study also found that 89% of current crypto holders, including those with over $1 million in investable assets, plan to increase their crypto exposure in 2025. Over half of respondents reported actively trading or monitoring crypto daily, suggesting digital assets have moved from speculative plays to core portfolio components.
Still, expertise is key:
- 88% of crypto investors already work with financial advisors
- 78% of non-crypto investors would consider doing so if crypto guidance were offered
- 55% said it’s “extremely important” for advisors to have crypto knowledge
- 51% actively seek advisors who offer crypto education
The findings underscore both a demand and an opportunity: investors want digital asset guidance, but only from those they trust to understand the space. For advisors, that means crypto fluency is no longer optional — it’s a differentiator.
