Tether unveils educational arm for blockchain skill development

Global stable coin issuer Tether has announced the establishment of Tether Edu, a dedicated educational branch aimed at fostering skills development in blockchain technology and digital fields. The move underscores Tether’s commitment to providing a comprehensive “smart education environment” in collaboration with industry experts.

Tether Edu will extend its reach to emerging markets, focusing on Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Asia.

Tether Edu empowering emerging markets

Tether Edu’s primary focus will be on offering courses, workshops, and resources in blockchain technology, design, artificial intelligence, and coding. The initiative aligns with Tether’s broader vision of leveraging financial tools, including the USDt stablecoin, to reshape economic landscapes.

In addition to its independent educational endeavors, Tether Edu will coordinate existing initiatives within the Tether ecosystem. Notable collaborations include partnerships with the Academy of Digital Industry in Georgia, Thailand’s Bitkub crypto exchange, and sponsorship of the Plan B Summer School in Lugano, Switzerland.

These collaborations emphasize commitment to a holistic approach in fostering knowledge exchange and skills development.

Tether CEO perspective and industry landscape

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino expressed the belief that financial tools, exemplified by USDt, go beyond transactional instruments and serve as catalysts capable of rewriting economic history. Ardoino highlighted the pivotal role education plays in this journey.

Tether Edu enters a competitive landscape where various crypto firms offer educational resources, from online guides to specialized courses.

Paid educational content and hiring initiatives

While specific details about Tether Edu’s offerings are yet to be unveiled, CEO Ardoino hinted at the possibility of some paid educational content. The initiative, currently in its pre-launch phase, is actively recruiting human resources and financial executives to support its educational mission.

The blockchain education trend is gaining momentum globally, with universities recognizing the increasing demand for skilled professionals in this field. Major tech companies like IBM, Oracle, Cisco, Amazon, and Google are actively seeking individuals with blockchain expertise.

Universities such as MIT, the University of Oxford, and Harvard University, alongside smaller institutions, offer courses catering to this growing demand.

Beyond traditional university settings, online platforms contribute significantly to blockchain education. Coursera, a prominent online course provider, hosts 832 courses in blockchain, offered either for free or at a modest cost.

These courses, developed by universities and major corporations, cater to diverse skill levels, with 25 of them classified as advanced.
