MegaETH Set to Launch Real-Time Blockchain Testnet This Week

MegaETH, a layer-2 Ethereum scaling solution, will go live with its testnet on March 6 and become the first real-time blockchain. The project has 100,000 TPS with a new vertical scaling approach, shunning horizontal scaling limitations common with traditional rollups.

As revealed on its official X account, the testnet deployment will occur from March 6 through infrastructure onboarding until March 10. User onboarding will begin on March 10, depositing testnet ETH directly into participants’ wallets upon sign-up. MegaETH is engineered to have high-speed performance, with 1.68 Ggas/sec capacity and 15ms effective block times. The team emphasized these achievements in the Tech Around and Find Out podcast, focusing on their mission to create the fastest and largest blockchain. In contrast to other rollup implementations burdened by horizontal scaling constraints, MegaETH provides real-time transaction finality, resolving Ethereum’s scalability issue.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin is one of the prominent MegaETH investors. He participated in its $20 million seed round, which was led by Dragonfly Capital. The project raised an additional $10 million in a funding round led by Echo Platform.
