Aside from the integration of ICP into the SingularityNET protocol, the two companies plan to synergize their grant programs by merging the Deep Funding and DFINITY Developer Grant Programs.
The Dfinity Foundation, a not-for-profit research and development organization, has partnered with SingularityNET, an AI-focused blockchain firm, to propel decentralized artificial intelligence (DeAI) on the Internet Computer Blockchain (ICP).
According to an official press release on November 20, the collaboration signals a significant leap in the integration of large language models (LLMs) into decentralized applications (DApps) while addressing transparency concerns associated with centralized AI training data.
Joint Initiative to Integrate ICP Blockchain with SingularityNET
Under the terms of the partnership, both companies will work together to introduce several initiatives to bridge artificial intelligence with blockchain, smart contracts, and decentralized networks.
Dfinity said the joint initiative aims to address a critical concern in the AI industry – the lack of transparency in training data due to centralization. By leveraging the capabilities of both Dfinity and SingularityNET, the deal seeks to decentralize AI models, making them tamper-proof and transparent.
One of the initiatives includes the integration of ICP into SingularityNET’s non-fungible tokens (NFTs) marketplace. Upon successful integration, AI and web3 developers will now have access to the only blockchain capable of running true DeAI.
These developers using the Internet Computer blockchain can easily connect with AI services, as decentralized AI models on ICP will run within smart contracts, ensuring tamper-proof training parameters and open-source functionality.
“These are amazing times to build AI – AI is achieving new capabilities each month, and an increasing number of experts foresee a breakthrough to human-level AGI within the next few years. Given this context, it’s extremely important that we move rapidly toward making the most advanced AI systems on the planet available via decentralized networks, not owned or controlled by any elite group, big tech company, or government agency,” said Dr. Ben Goertzel, CEO of SingularityNET.
United Grant Programs to Fuel Developer Engagement
Aside from the integration of ICP into the SingularityNET protocol, the two companies plan to synergize their grant programs by merging the Deep Funding and DFINITY Developer Grant Programs. This strategic move aims to stimulate community developer engagement and provide the necessary resources to propel DeAI projects forward, leveraging the revolutionary infrastructure of the ICP blockchain.
Dominic Williams, founder and chief scientist of Dfinity, said that since the launch of the DeAI grant in July, the ICP blockchain has witnessed a surge in projects leveraging AI.
“The Internet Computer has been at the forefront of hosting artificial intelligence on the blockchain. Since the launch of the $5 million DeAI grant in July, we have seen an uptick in projects leveraging AI on ICP. This initiative with SingularityNET will further realize our vision for DeAI, and we’re excited to work alongside Dr. Ben Goertzel and his team to refine the DeAI framework,” Williams said.
