Canary Capital CEO sees the next major market top arriving before the end of 2025. As crypto markets flirt with all-time highs, Steven McClurg believes Bitcoin is on a path to $150,000 by the end of the year, before a 2026 bear market sets in.
Bitcoin To $150K In 2025
Steven McClurg is convinced that Bitcoin has a high chance of making a highly anticipated move to $150,000, though crypto’s seasonality could add volatility in the coming months.
“There’s a greater than 50% chance that Bitcoin goes to the $140,000 to $150,000 range this year before we see another bear market next year,” Steven McClurg told CNBC on Friday.
McClurg attributed the imminent upsurge to growing demand from spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and an increasing demand from institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds, pensions, and corporate treasuries.
“These inflows are creating a higher price in Bitcoin,” he opined.

ETH Unlikely To New Hit All-Time Highs?
The bullish prediction comes as Canary Capital has submitted paperwork with the SEC for ETF applications tied to a series of altcoins, including Ripple’s XRP, Sui, TRX, Cronus (CRO), Litecoin (LTC), and President Trump’s official meme coin (TRUMP).
The asset manager has not filed an ETF application related to the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency, Ethereum (ETH), which McClurg dismissed as an outdated network, despite ETH being the best performer in recent weeks among crypto majors, closing in on a fresh peak a few days ago before retracing alongside the wider market.
McClurg acknowledged Ethereum has seen “a great run over about a five-year period,” but claimed newer blockchains like Solana have leapfrogged it. “I do expect it to wane and not see all-time highs,” he continued.
Other pundits are not as bearish on Ethereum. Popular crypto trader Yashasedu, for instance, forecasted earlier this week that Ether could blow past $8,500 if Bitcoin surges to a record $150,000, based on past bull market cycles where Ether attains 35% of BTC’s market cap. Yashasedu suggested that if Bitcoin hits $150,000, then ETH may skyrocket to $8,656.
Meanwhile, British banking giant Standard Chartered upped its Ether price target for 2025 to $7,500, up from a previous $4,000 projection.
