A senior White House official Bo Hines has reaffirmed the administration’s view that Bitcoin is digital gold, stating that the United States should accumulate “as much as we can possibly get” in a budget-neutral manner.
The statement follows President Trump’s recent Executive Order on BTC reserves, which set the framework for establishing infrastructure and acquisition strategies without increasing the tax burden.
“We believe it’s in the best interest of the United States to garner as much [Bitcoin] as we can possibly get,” Hines said, noting the government is now focused on building out the reserve system.
While the executive order doesn’t mandate public disclosure of BTC reserve planning, the official left open the possibility of transparency “at some point.”
The U.S. joins a growing list of governments exploring sovereign Bitcoin accumulation, with the official emphasizing this strategy has been promoted publicly at conferences for months.
“This has to be done in budget-neutral ways… The President was clear about that,” they added, hinting at creative solutions already in progress.
The comments mark a significant milestone in the U.S.’s transition toward recognizing and integrating Bitcoin into national financial strategy.
