People find it quite interesting how one of the greatest investors of all time, Warren Buffett, puts his opinions on Bitcoin’s biggest crypto asset of all time (BTC).
Over the last five years, bitcoin (BTC) has surged upto 2,000% despite its recent pullback and many instances of cryptocurrency facing the dip. Despite its recent and overall success, where its adoption and acceptance have also increased exponentially and become more mainstream, one of the prominent investors still being among the critics of the digital asset phenomenon and bitcoin itself, none other than Warren Buffett.
On Saturday, while attending the annual shareholders’ meeting of Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett said that although he has no knowledge of whether bitcoin will go up or down, he is quite sure that the digital asset does not produce anything. Simple, that’s the reason why one of the greatest investors of all time does not own any of the assets.
The Oracle of Ohama asked at the meeting that if someone told him that he owns all the bitcoin in the world and offered it to Buffett for $25, he would not take the bitcoin by saying what he would do with it. Buffett said that he would sell it back to someone else in one way or another, and hence it’s not going to do anything other than this.
While criticizing the topmost crypto asset, bitcoin, Berkshire Hathaway’s CEO picked up on two assets while comparing them to the flagship cryptocurrency that he would buy these assets if given the opportunity instead of bitcoin.
Buffett mentioned one as farmland as agriculture and bitcoin have nothing in common among these two assets. Agricultural communities and their concept existed on the earth from about 10,000 years ago, while bitcoin was created in 2009 only.
Although the billionaire investor isn’t known to be an agricultural investor, he still sees more value in this asset class, farmland, while critical to bitcoin. His point to make is if someone holds farmland, it’s a tangible asset that can let the person produce food.
Warren Buffett said that if someone asked him for $25 billion for 1% interest in all the available farmland in the US, he would write the check.
Another asset class that Buffett mentioned was also related to the lands, but in a more specific way, Apartments. These apartment buildings are those assets that Buffett would consider over bitcoin and would not mind buying at the right price.
The legendary investor said that if someone comes and offers him 1% of all the available apartment houses in the country and asks for another $25 billion; he would write a check for him too; it’s that simple.
