the Lightning Network of Bitcoin for WhatsApp conquers Xverse

Sati, a Bitcoin payment company for apps like WhatsApp, has announced the launch of its Lightning Network integration with Xverse. Now BTC’s layer 2 can be used by over 1.5 million Xverse users, increasing adoption.

Sati: the Bitcoin Lightning Network for Whatsapp and the new 1.5 million users of Xverse

Sati, provider of payment infrastructure for Bitcoin for apps like WhatsApp, announced that it has been integrated into Xverse.

The new integration will bring the use of BTC’s Lightning Network to over 1.5 million Xverse users worldwide, increasing the adoption of the leading crypto’s layer 2 par excellence.

Specifically, Xverse users can now send and receive sats (the smallest unit of Bitcoin) instantly, through the Lightning network, without any setup, without changing apps, and without custody risks.

In this regard, Felipe Servin, founder and CEO of Sati stated:

“Bitcoin was not designed to be a Wall Street asset: it was built to be a peer-to-peer, borderless, and accessible money. Integrating Lightning natively into Xverse brings this vision to life, making Bitcoin usable at scale for billions of people.”

Thanks to the new integration, every Xverse user immediately receives a Lightning address. This means that users will be able to receive tips, pay invoices, and use BTC for microtransactions, all without having to manage channels or switch from one app to another.

Sati and the Bitcoin Lightning Network for WhatsApp

Sati is leveraging Lightning Network technology to bring Bitcoin (BTC) into the pockets of nearly 3 billion users worldwide, thanks to its powerful API integration with WhatsApp.

Launched in 2025, the payment app for apps like WhatsApp had secured a Pre-Seed funding round of 600,000 dollars. Among the financiers are BitcoinFi Accelerator, Arcanum Capital, Draper Associates, Boost VC and other investors.

These new funds are for Sati to support the integration of Bitcoin into the ecosystem of the instant messaging application WhatsApp, as well as cross-border trading services based on the stablecoins USDC and USDT.

In this regard, in fact, Sati predicts that USDT on Lightning will be supported as early as the third quarter for the Xverse wallet and in July 2025 for users accessing Sati via WhatsApp.

LN as of today

The Lightning Network (LN) was designed in 2017 to become the main layer-2 of Bitcoin. To date, the LN network has reached a capacity of over 465 million dollars, with 11,413 nodes and 42,192 open channels.

Dizzying numbers if you consider that in October 2022, the average network capacity was the equivalent of almost 98 million dollars (at BTC prices of that time).

Last July 2024, then, the possible solution was announced to bring stablecoin within Lightning Network. This is the native protocol “Taporoot Assets” that would have solved the problem of liquidity fragmentation in the on-chain world.

At the end of January, Tether announced that USDT has also climbed onto Bitcoin’s LN:

I’m sorry, but it seems there is no Italian text provided for translation. Could you please provide the Italian text you would like translated while keeping the HTML markup?

“Today we announce that Tether is coming to bitcoin and Lightning! With the security and decentralization of bitcoin and the speed and scalability of Lightning, USDT will bring hundreds of millions of users and trillions in volume. Everything comes back to bitcoin.”
