Supply chain traceability on Bitcoin: UNISOT’s Stephan Nilsson on CoinGeek Backstage

Bitcoin is all about offering solutions, and UNISOT is solving some of the supply chain management sector’s most prevalent challenges with solutions built on the BSV blockchain. At GITEX Global Dubai 2023, CoinGeek Backstage caught up with CEO Stephan Nilsson to discuss the latest products from the Norwegian company.

Nilsson launched UNISOT in 2020 as a general platform for managing supply chains on the BSV blockchain network. Since then, he’s been working on customizing the platform to specific industries, he told CoinGeek Backstage on the sidelines of the event.

At GITEX, which has been the leading tech exhibition for four decades, Nilsson announced the launch of HalalOnChain, UNISOT’s newest offering.

“It enables company and producers to prove that their product is halal,” he noted.

While HalalOnChain will mainly target the food industry, it can also be leveraged in pharmaceuticals, tourism, cosmetics, and other industries. It increases transparency and trust, reduces fraud, and enhances efficiency.

UNISOT has also recently partnered with an Italian company that produces olive oil to enable customers to authenticate that the product they purchase is legitimate. According to one study, over 80% of the olive oil in American retail outlets is fake.

UNISOT issues the Italian manufacturer a digital product passport that customers can scan to ascertain that the product they purchase is genuine.

The company has ventured into the fashion industry and is working with Bangladeshi companies to prove the quality of their products and the safety of their workers.

Bangladesh is the world’s second-largest textile exporter behind China, with millions of citizens working in garment industries. In an unfortunate event in 2012, a fire broke out in a textile factory, killing over 100 and injuring over 200. Since then, the government has been stringent on safety measures and worker safety, and with UNISOT, companies can prove that they are adhering to government standards.

UNISOT’s products could only be built on an enterprise-ready, scalable, stable, and cost-efficient blockchain network.

“We looked at different blockchains and found that BSV is the only one that actually works and scales,” Nilsson told CoinGeek Backstage.
