SpaceX Transfers $153M BTC to New Wallet, First Time Since 2022

SpaceX has initiated its first known on-chain Bitcoin activity in more than three years. Blockchain data from Arkham Intelligence reveals the company moved 1,308 BTC, worth approximately $153 million, to a new wallet address early Tuesday.

This marks SpaceX’s first recorded outbound Bitcoin transaction since June 2022. Data from Arkham identified the sending wallet as one associated with Elon Musk’s aerospace company.

The receiving wallet had no prior activity before this transfer. At the time of reporting, there have been no additional transactions or movement of funds from the new wallet. The motive behind the move remains unknown, though the nature of the transfer has raised speculation online.

Previous Movement Took Place in 2022

Before this latest activity, the last recorded movement from SpaceX’s wallet occurred on June 10, 2022. At that time, the company transferred 3,505 BTC—valued at around $102 million then, to a Coinbase address. Since then, there have been no outward transactions from any wallet tagged to SpaceX.

Meanwhile, Arkham’s updated data shows that SpaceX still holds 6,977 BTC, with a current market value of about $815 million. This places SpaceX among the largest corporate Bitcoin holders, behind firms like MicroStrategy and Tesla.

Corporate Holdings in Bitcoin Continue to Expand

SpaceX’s holdings, combined with those of Tesla, reflect Elon Musk’s ongoing involvement with Bitcoin through his business ventures. Tesla has previously made headlines for both acquiring and selling portions of its Bitcoin reserves. SpaceX’s on-chain activity has, however, remained limited over the years.

At press time, Bitcoin was trading around $118,768. SpaceX’s total holdings now exceed $800 million, indicating continued interest in digital assets as part of corporate balance sheets. Until the company provides clarification, the purpose of the recent transfer remains uncertain.
