Williams supports Bitcoin
During the Miami Bitcoin Conference 2022, Block (formerly Square) announced it has partnered with the tennis player. Williams will be working with CashApp to offer women and people of colour access to Bitcoin (BTC/USD).
Williams praised Bitcoin for its unique features saying that it was a “super strong investment.” The tennis player said that the initiative would raise crypto awareness among the female gender, and people of colour would explore opportunities for Bitcoin investments.
“It’s important to expand Bitcoin to women and people of colour,” Williams said. She further said that Bitcoin’s capped supply of 21 million coins was a valuable advantage. She said that the global cryptocurrency environment was changing and that the sector’s growth was led by Bitcoin.
Williams said,
What’s interesting in Bitcoin is there is not going to be a ton available. I like looking at it like that and deciding: Okay, that is a super-strong investment in terms of all cryptocurrencies. There’s a lot happening in the cryptocurrency world, and obviously, I think it’s all being led by Bitcoin.
Williams is married to Alex Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit and a major crypto supporter. At the beginning of the year, Ohanian secured a $500M funding to “double down” investments in cryptocurrencies. Ohanian also has personal investments in Ethereum, terming it a promising blockchain.
