HBO documentary on Bitcoin -Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery’s claim that Peter Todd is Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of Bitcoin triggered a massive Twitter frenzy, and even though Todd denied the claim, the theory does not end here.
On October 8, a leaked (now deleted) video from an HBO documentary revealed that HBO suggested Bitcoin Core developer Peter Todd was Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. Todd quickly denied the claims, prompting journalists worldwide to investigate the matter further.
As a result, the freshest claim from @tier10k suggests HBO’s claims might be true in some sense. In a X post, db hints, “In 2010, Todd (from a new account) replies to Satoshi on bitcointalk; HBO claims he accidentally finished Satoshi’s post from his own account”.
Further justifying this claim, db pointed out that, after Todd mistakenly used his own account to complete Satoshi Nakamoto’s post, both accounts stopped activity a few days later. Additionally, Todd also implemented the “Replace by Fee” (RBF) concept that was discussed in the post.
Db went on to cite another coincidence indicating Todd might be Satoshi- a document provider claimed that Todd used the pseudonym “John Dillon” to promote RBF and both used British/Canadian spellings.
Moreover, Satoshi Nakamoto’s posting time pattern aligns with the student’s schedule, with Nakamoto posting more frequently on weekends. Lastly, db also suggested how Todd once mentioned “sacrificing” Bitcoin which may refer to the destruction of Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin.
With db’s observations highlighting bits of truth in HBO’s claims, the theory of Peter Todd being Satoshi Nakamoto has only deepened. As for how the OG crypto has reacted to the doxxing controversy, Bitcoin is trading at $62,343.49 after a dip of 0.47% in the past one day and crossing the $64k mark on 07th October.
