NCR Atleos and LibertyX Launch Feature to Convert Bitcoin to Cash

LibertyX’s Bitcoin Cashout will let NCR Atleos integrate easy bitcoin withdrawals for users across 30 US states.

NCR Atleos, an Automated Telling Machine (ATM) provider, and LibertyX, a bitcoin-to-cash solution, introduced a Bitcoin Cashout feature across the former’s ATM network. LibertyX users can now sell their assets on its application to withdraw cash from select Atleos ATMs across 30 states in the United States.

LibertyX app users can select ATMs in convenient locations to withdraw the US Dollar value of the bitcoin they sell. This is made possible through Atleos’ proprietary ReadyCode API—a one-time use code solution. Users must stage the transaction on the LibertyX app, after which they can visit an Atleos ATM enabled with the API in their vicinity and utilize the code associated with their transaction to pull cash out of the machine. The withdrawals come with a $400 limit per transaction.

“Atleos has focused on supporting consumers, issuers, and merchants with solutions that bridge digital solutions and services with physical infrastructure,” said Stuart Mackinnon, Atleos COO, about the Bitcoin Cashout feature. “Adding an offramp for LibertyX users to convert digital assets to physical cash enhances the value proposition of LibertyX, grows foot traffic at participating merchants, and increases the productivity of our ATMs.”

Chris Yim, LibertyX General Manager, mentioned. “One of the remaining barriers to greater bitcoin adoption by consumers has been the ability to move easily and effortlessly from bitcoin to cash without waiting days for transfers facilitated by ACH or dealing with the complexity of wire transfers.” He added, “With LibertyX Bitcoin Cashout, LibertyX app users can pre-stage digital to physical transactions from the convenience and privacy of their phone and pick up their funds on their schedule in locations that work for them.”

Atleos’ parent company, NCR, bought LibertyX in 2021. This move is a blend of the technology and scale it boasts, leveraging its massive network of ATMs across the US to integrate LibertyX’s Bitcoin Cashout feature. Moreover, LibertyX holds a New York BitLicense, allowing NCR to comply with regulatory requirements with this integration.
