Metaplanet Buys 2,205 More Bitcoin, Now Holds 15,555 BTC

Japanese investment company Metaplanet has added another 2,205 Bitcoin to its corporate treasury. The company spent around $238.7 million on this latest purchase, bringing its total holdings to 15,555 BTC. The average price for this acquisition was approximately $108,237 per Bitcoin, according to CEO Simon Gerovich in a post on X.

Data from Bitcointreasuries.net places Metaplanet as the fifth-largest publicly traded company holding Bitcoin. MicroStrategy remains the leader, with 597,325 BTC held as of the latest count.

Metaplanet Sees Revenue Growth with Bitcoin Strategy

Metaplanet’s business model is centered around holding and building on Bitcoin. The company recorded 1.1 billion yen (about $7.6 million) in revenue for Q2 2025. That marks a 42.4% increase compared to the same quarter last year, according to the company’s financial report.

In a recent post, Gerovich stated that the company’s approach aims to be sustainable and efficient under a Bitcoin standard. As CoinCu reported last month, Metaplanet raised its long-term target, stating plans to accumulate over 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027.
