Belfort tells guests he is now a firm believer in cryptocurrency.
After being imprisoned for securities fraud and money laundering, popular wall street fraudster, Jordan Belfort, has recently revealed that he is a victim of digital asset fraud. Belfort revealed to a few merchants gathered at his home that hackers stole $300K worth of digital assets from his crypto wallet.
Belfort explained further to a venture-capitalist friend that the digital assets stolen were OM tokens. He also said that even though he could see the movement of the funds, he couldn’t reverse the transaction, adding that “it was a hugely frustrating thing.”
Belfort hosted a few blockchain advocates over the weekend, intending to enlighten them about investing in the crypto space. He tagged the training “an intimate financial experience with Belfort and his friends.” Belfort revealed to his attendees that he had declined multiple offers to launch wolf-themed NFTs. He said, “I regard them as worst shilling even though I could make $10M easily by launching some.”
Belfort also said he is now a firm believer in crypto and blockchain despite once shooting a youtube video where he called Bitcoin a collective delusion. He said he changed his mindset about crypto in the last few years because he calmed down to learn how it worked and discovered it is now going to be a part of our lives forever.
The acclaimed wolf of wall street claimed to have a few investments in crypto-related startups and plans to launch a pet-themed crypto project soon. It doesn’t matter whether he is telling the truth about his crypto exploits. Belfort’s experience makes him be in the best position to speak about financial fraud, a major issue plaguing the crypto space.
Even though he stated that he desires proper regulation of the crypto industry, attendees of his weekend crypto training paid 1 BTC (or a cash equivalent of $40k) to attend his crypto workshop.
How Belfort earned his popular nickname
Belfort became popular for his exploits on wall street, promptly earning the title “the wolf of wall street.” However, his high-flying finance career would soon come to an abrupt end when he was accused of being involved in some money laundering scams and securities frauds. His life on wall street was adapted into a movie in 2013, with his character played by Leonardo Di Caprio.
