Happy Lunar New Year from CoinGeek! May the Year of the Dragon be your best, with new opportunities, good health, and lifetime memories.
The dragon is the fifth sign in the Chinese zodiac. According to an ancient tale, it got its position after finishing behind the rat, the ox, the tiger, and the rabbit in the race to be the guard of the Jade Emperor, one of the most revered gods in Chinese culture. The dragon was the only mythical creature to compete. While it could fly and easily emerge victorious, legend has it that it stopped along the way to assist some villagers and one of its competitors.
Dragons hold a special place in the Chinese culture. They are regarded as creatures of benevolence and kindness but also strength and power. China’s President Xi Jinping once described the Chinese people as “descendants of the dragon” to former U.S. President Donald Trump.
People born in the Year of the Dragon are considered confident, ambitious, charismatic, and tenacious, with an abundance of intelligence and power.
The Year of the Dragon comes at a time when the strength and tenacity of the Bitcoin community are being tested the most.
Bitcoin’s tenacity strength will be tested this year as enterprise clients integrate the technology to serve millions of clients. While most blockchains can serve the small communities of speculators and anchor proofs-of-concept with a few thousand users, only a network that scales unbounded can cater to enterprises and governments.
This year, blockchain networks will be put to the test for their scale, stability, security, and ability to retain low fees as usage spikes. Only networks that have the tenacity of the dragon will succeed.
As we welcome the Year of the Dragon, let’s exude the strength, confidence, intelligence, and tenacity that will push Bitcoin to new heights.
