Cryptos Rise as Bitcoiner Runs For Prime Minister While Freedom Convoy Raises $400,000 BTC – Trustnodes

Canada may soon be ruled by a bitcoiner as Pierre Marcel Poilievre announced he is running for Prime Minister with 14 endorsements already secured from MPs to run the conservative party.

Bitcoin rose above $43,000 after a jump in price coincided with the announcement of the candidacy, as well as with a growing role for bitcoin in the funding of the Freedom Convoy.

8.8 bitcoin have been raised as of 2PM London time, worth about $400,000, with their goal of 5 bitcoin surpassed within hours.

The fundraising is run by the Youtubing BTC Sessions with the Youtuber stating:

“Yeah I’m running the tallycoin page and then sending sats to a Multisig with Greg Foss and Jeff Booth.”

That’s after GoFundMe froze their fundraising account in an interference with the right to protest, but bitcoin can’t quite be frozen so close to half a million has already been raised through it.

4,000 people have contributed towards raising close to 9 bitcoin, including Kraken’s founder Jesse Powell who said:

“Fix the money, fix the world. Thank you for leading by example. Mandates are immoral. End the madness. Honk Honk!”

The bitcoin flag has been spotted at the protest which demands an end to all health related emergency measures almost two years since they were instituted.

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, however, has given no concession at all to this mass display of public anger.

“Governments have gotten big and bossy,” Pierre Poilievre says, “they think you’re their servant, when it’s the other way around.”

The 42 year old Poilievre has kind of risen as if from nothing, but he has been an MP for 18 years, since he was 25.

He began his career when he was just 16, working as a full-time assistant for former Canadian Alliance leader and Opposition leader Stockwell Day.

He is adopted, raised by teachers, making him a very middle class representative, and thus quite understandably he likes the currency of the middle class, bitcoin.

It’s not for the poor, though they can participate as well but usually they don’t have money, and arguably bitcoin is not too much help for the rich as banks can provide them exclusive facilities, facilities that bitcoin and crypto more widely now provides to the middle class as well.

A middle class that has been decimated, with its share of wealth consistently down over the past three decades.

Thus a middle class revolt may be brewing, peacefully of course, through political means, and potentially through representatives like Poilievre or the son of immigrants and potential US presidential candidate, Floridan governor Ron DeSantis.

Poilievre’s platform is simple: get the state off our back. Lower taxes, lower regulations, get rid of the debt mountain, and peace through strength.

“The only way to successfully negotiate with Putin is with an iron fist in a velvet glove,” says an institution Poilievre appears to like very much, the Macdonald-Laurier Institute.

Poilievre has revealed he owns some bitcoin through an ETF traded in Canada, with the potential Prime Minister stating that bitcoin provides some needed competition to the government’s monopoly over money.

Money is apparently his key word, that’s what he focuses on mostly, in a reflection of the millennial generation which also primarily cares about prosperity.

But Canada has just had an election in autumn, however Trudeau is in a minority government, losing to conservatives the popular vote but still somehow gets to be Prime Minister.

This trucker convoy is now a real challenge to his authority and ability to govern the country as a minority government, so one way to solve this problem may well be to hold an election and let the people decide whether there should or should not be such mandate with the two parties providing a clear choice on the matter.

Where bitcoin is concerned however the Trudeau administration has been good to this space, and even Poilievre acknowledges as much in pointing out ETFs have been approved in Canada while America is still waiting, so we don’t mind much whatever the outcome.

But, a new ideology is clearly rising and it’s an old one, classic liberalism in effect with data suggesting from our observation that problems begin once government spending accounts for more than 20% of the GDP.

There’s a debt problem and a very big one especially now that interest rates are rising with some countries at risk of real troubles financially.

Taxing your way out of it is not gone work, especially because the rich have loopholes, the poor can’t afford it, and the middle class has three mortgages already in student loans, the residential mortgage, and now the public debt mortgage.

The only way out of it is growth, and the only way to bring this growth is capitalism for all rather than capitalism for the rich and state enforced communism for the rest through investment prohibitions as we currently have.

So we need a quick sharp turn to defeat the communists after we defeated the nazis and raise once again that yellow flag of liberalism.

Which is why Desantis should run, and if he doesn’t there may be questions in six years when he might run regarding whether he can be trusted with the job if he is too pussy to take on little Trump.

Poilievre is obviously running with the question being when does he actually get to as it’s unclear when there will be an election.

While in UK Boris Johnson needs to articulate and narrate more his global Britain vision with what we might think is the civil service doing some excellent work, but we need more of Osborne where it concerns this space and less of Theresa May which from here still appears to be running the Fintech bit as the new administration presumably has not quite made it around to putting their own men.

A united anglo-saxony in vision can of course be a marvel and it may be happening, with freedom clearly needing to extend here both economically and otherwise as the old way clearly is not working, and the new way has to be more capitalism, which necessarily means more freedom.
