Chairman of the Financial Services Committee of the US House of Representatives, Patrick McHenry, one of the important names supporting Bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrencies, made a written statement following the SEC’s approval decision.
Stating that this decision and today is a turning point for the US cryptocurrency ecosystem, McHenry said:
Today’s spot Bitcoin ETF approvals mark a historic turning point for the future of the digital asset ecosystem in the United States.
While legislation to bring clarity and certainty to digital assets remains necessary, today’s actions are a significant improvement over the SEC’s track record of regulating through enforcement.
We are pleased that investors and our markets finally have greater access to this generation of technology.
We are committed to improving consumer protection in digital asset markets through comprehensive market structure and stable payment legislation. ”
