Bitcoin Hits Historic Milestone as Block 900,000 Is Mined

Bitcoin has reached a major milestone with the successful mining of block 900,000, marking a significant chapter in the network’s long-running journey toward the next halving and its eventual 21 million BTC cap.

According to information from Bitcoin Magazine, the historic block included 1,562 transactions with an average fee rate of ~3 sat/vB, generating 0.018 BTC in fees. The block was processed by ViaBTC, one of the industry’s prominent mining pools.

In comparison, the previous block contained 1,161 transactions at a higher average fee rate of ~5 sat/vB, collecting 0.013 BTC in total fees and taking around 10 minutes to mine.

While symbolic in nature, the 900,000th block underscores BTC’s continued resilience, consistent block production, and the countdown to the next halving event — expected at block 1,050,000. The milestone reaffirms network security and community momentum amid growing institutional and global adoption.
