Bitcoin Core has released the v26 update; why has this update become an important issue? Here are the details about Bitcoin Core!

Bitcoin Core Releases New Update

Bitcoin-BTC

Bitcoin Core has introduced the Bitcoin v26 update to the pipeline. In an X post, the Bitcoin Core project announced the distribution of the update and the publication of documents. The last Bitcoin v25.0 update was released in May 2023.

This release includes various new features, bug fixes, and performance improvements, along with translation updates. Users are encouraged to report any bugs through the GitHub issue tracker.

The Bitcoin v26 documentation was released by a developer named Michael Ford. The document specifically urges Bitcoin users to upgrade to the new version, make it compatible with different operating systems, and adapt to significant changes in the upcoming release.

Some notable changes mentioned include experimental support for the v2 transport protocol, improvements in node resistance to censorship attacks, and enhancements in pruning issues.

The document also covers updates to Remote Procedure Calls (RPCs), changes in wallet-related RPCs, new RPCs, updated and new settings, tools and utilities, and GUI changes. Low-level changes, including updates related to testing, are also addressed. The release highlights the collaborative nature of the Bitcoin Core development team, praising those who have made significant contributions.

Bitcoin Ordinals and the Rise of ORDI Price

Recently, Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr claimed that an update would fix issues related to Bitcoin network congestion and BRC-20 token transfers. During the Bitcoin price rally, Dashjr noted that a critical bug in Bitcoin Knots, a derivative of Bitcoin Core, was successfully resolved with the latest update. This bug allowed data to exceed the limit by masking content like program code.

Bitcoin Core has allowed users to set limits on extra data in transactions since 2013. However, this vulnerability allowed the data to cleverly bypass these limits by disguising data, such as content similar to program code.

Expressing concerns about the upcoming Bitcoin Core version (v26), Dashjr emphasized that even the latest update would not be enough to address this bug. He stated that this vulnerability would be addressed before the planned v27 version for the coming year.

Meanwhile, the BRC-20 token ORDI recently experienced a remarkable price increase, showing a 131% surge. As of the time of writing, the ORDI price was trading at $47.00, with a 24-hour trading volume recorded at $1.7 billion. The token, however, experienced a 5% drop in the last 24 hours. The token had recorded an increase of over 700% in the previous month. Additionally, this latest development coincided with a period where Bitcoin received significant transactions every day. Top-level Bitcoin analysts predicted that the BTC price could exceed $50,000.
