At Bitcoin Conference 2025, Vice President JD Vance took the stage and delivered a powerful message to the crypto community:
“I see some groundbreaking tech. For each of these new forward-facing applications, crypto is a hedge against bad policymaking.”
Vance’s remarks centered around one key question: Will we lead our nation into the future of financial prosperity? According to him, the answer depends on whether the U.S. chooses to embrace crypto not just as a technology—but as a movement.
A Shift in Tone from Washington
“Crypto finally has a champion in the White House,” Vice President JD Vance declared to a 35,000 registered and roaring crowd. He emphasized that Bitcoin isn’t about flashy tech—it’s about real people doing real work that’s improving lives. According to him, “The people at Bitcoin Conference 2025 are building things that matter. They’re not chasing hype—they’re solving problems.”
A major theme of Vance’s address was financial freedom. “We are ending the weaponizing of financial systems,” he said. He criticized the use of regulatory power to control innovation and suppress industries. The message was clear: under this administration, that approach is no longer acceptable.
“Anyone should be able to make a fortune—no matter where they grow up,” Vance added. That, he said, is the promise of decentralized finance.
Clearing the Path for Stablecoins
Vice President JD Vance also addressed the long-standing issue of regulatory uncertainty, especially around stablecoins. For years, unclear rules have driven stablecoin development offshore. “We’re working on creating a clear path,” he said, adding, “Once the Genius Act is enacted, it will inject transparency into the market—and it won’t undermine the American dollar.”
He didn’t offer a full definition of the Genius Act, but emphasized that it’s meant to support innovation while maintaining economic stability. “There’s a consistent fear that digital assets aren’t welcome here,” Vance said. “That’s simply not true. Bitcoin is part of our economy now—and it’s here to stay.”
He acknowledged that in politics, nothing is ever guaranteed. “But we get to champion the conversation. We get to unleash innovation to improve lives. A $3 trillion industry now has the support of the administration.”
Where the Industry Is Headed
Vice President JD Vance shared some frank thoughts on where the crypto industry is going—and where it’s been.
1. Crypto Politics and Public Pressure
Vance reflected on the political frustration of 2021–2022 under the Biden administration. He called out the lack of pushback against figures like Gary Gensler. “The reason I support the Bitcoin community is simple,” he said. “Unless our community gets involved, nothing changes.”
He reminded the audience that progress is never permanent unless people keep showing up. “While Bitcoin is digital, none of us are. If we don’t make the right decisions now, we’ll lose this moment. Use your momentum—from 2024 to 2026 and beyond.”
2. Bitcoin as Strategic Policy
“We have to start thinking about the long-term implications of Bitcoin,” Vance said. He explained why the administration is building a strategic reserve—an initiative aimed at treating Bitcoin as a core economic asset.
Vance pointed to global trends. “While the people of China are pulling away from Bitcoin, we in the U.S. should lean into it.” He urged attendees to stay engaged, provide feedback, and help guide the strategic growth of Bitcoin.
3. A Conservative Foundation, A Global Future
In perhaps the most ideologically loaded part of his remarks, Vice President JD Vance said, “Crypto is fundamentally conservative. But ironically, it’s also a check on communistic technology.”
He drew a parallel between crypto and AI. “Remember—what happens in AI will happen to crypto. What happens to crypto will happen to AI. Stay involved, stay informed, and keep tabs on both.”
Closing Message: Keep the Pressure Up
Vice President JD Vance ended his speech with a rallying cry. “The U.S. has plans to move forward,” he said. “But we need your help. We need your encouragement. And yes—we need you to keep the pressure up.”
Bitcoin 2025 marked a new chapter in the relationship between Washington and the decentralized economy. For the first time, it feels like there someone at the highest level in the government indicated they are someone who truly understands what’s at stake.
The message from the stage was clear: crypto isn’t a threat to the system—it is the next system. And under Vice President JD Vance’s leadership, it just might get the support it needs to take root.
