Billionaire investor Tim Draper believes Bitcoin will overtake the U.S. dollar as the dominant global currency within the next decade. Speaking recently, Draper said this shift could happen in ten years or less, marking the end of fiat money as we know it.
Draper reiterated his $250,000 BTC price prediction by the end of 2025, and went further, claiming that Bitcoin’s value will become “infinite” against the dollar once fiat ceases to be used.
“If I can pay for food, housing, and even taxes in Bitcoin, there’s no point in holding dollars,” Draper stated.
He argued that Bitcoin offers better security, efficiency, and trust than traditional banking systems, which have faced growing skepticism—especially after the 2023 collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and the shutdowns of Signature and Silvergate banks.
Many in the crypto community suspect these closures were influenced by the government-backed Operation Chokepoint 2.0, aimed at cutting off crypto firms from the financial system.
Draper also criticized U.S. tariffs under President Trump, calling them anti-free trade and suggesting they accelerated dollar weakening and Bitcoin’s rise. The U.S. Dollar Index dropped 8% to 99.96 by early 2025—its lowest since April 2022.
He sees stablecoins as a temporary bridge, but ultimately flawed like fiat, believing Bitcoin’s superior technology and decentralized nature will make it the global standard for storing and transferring value.
