The US Super Bowl has been dominated by crypto and blockchain ads, some even terming this sports event as the “Crypto Bowl”. Not only have these ads marked the most part of this day, but crypto bets have also become highly popular.

Drake made three bets using Bitcoin (BTC/USD), totalling CAD 1.6 million. The first was a moneyline wager where he placed a $600,000 bet that the LA Rams would win the game. This bet earned him around 5.65 Bitcoin, valued at $306,000.

In an Instagram post, Drake said that he had placed another $500,000 bet that Odell Beckham Jr., a receiver with the LA Rams, would score one touchdown during the game. The other $500,000 bet was placed on Beckham, netting over 62.5 receiving yards. Drake won the first bet after Beckham scored the first touchdown. However, the last bet was unsuccessful as the player got out of the pitch after an injury.

Super Bowl turns into the Crypto Bowl

Bets were high during the Super Bowl, and Drake was not the only one walking away with some free Bitcoin. Coinbase, the largest Bitcoin exchange in the US, promoted some free $15 worth of Bitcoin for new users signing up on the platform. This free BTC was aired in the form of a Coinbase ad promoted as a Super Bowl ad. FTX also posted a giveaway of 7.54 Bitcoin on Twitter after its ad aired during the sporting event.

Beckham, the player Drake placed a bet on, has agreed to receive his $4.25 million salary in Bitcoin. The player also promoted a $1M Bitcoin giveaway on CashApp. Despite dropping early from the Super Bowl, Beckham promoted the team’s victory.

Drake placed his bet on LA Rams using Stake, a cryptocurrency betting platform. This is not the first time the rapper is making bets on the site, as he has often made bets worth millions in CAD.
