Thirdweb wants to scale its web3 development phase for its upcoming future, as it recently welcomed an ex-executive of Facebook, the tech firm. According to a recent Yahoo Finance report, Atif Khan, the ex-executive of Facebook, has become the company’s new Vice President of Gaming.
The ex-executive of Facebook spent nearly eight years at the company. His most recent serving was as Head of Mid-Market & In-App Ads for Global Gaming, before he left the firm in 2021. He then undertook the Chief Operating Officer’s role at Web3 gaming infrastructure firm, Stardust.
Khan has shared about the major attraction that eventually took him to join Thirdweb. As per his saying he saw an opportunity to “sell the full stack to a game developer.” The mechanics of web3 game building generally needs developers to access the programs and tools like RPC nodes, asset minting, wallet creation, payments processing, marketplace creation, API and game engine tools, and more.
Furthermore, he said that all these services are often sourced from different providers, but Thirdweb is working towards simplifying the processes. “We want to build a great, one-stop shop tool that is comprehensive, so that developers don’t have to go to seven or eight different places,” he said.
The company will also offer a full-stack option willing to meet game developers’ needs for specific pieces of the puzzle. By adding an example, Khan said they “provide flexibility.”
The new Vice President of Thirdweb said “the game developers are starting to realize that users want modularity, they want choice. You don’t need to be stuck or locked into one wallet–whether a smart, local, custodial, or non-custodial. Users have different preferences.”
However, as a demonstration of the capabilities of Thirdweb’s toolkit, the company recently spent 3-weeks building “an on-chain survival action game titled Web3 Warriors.”
Thirdweb and its Web3 Acceleration
The company is offering a web3 infrastructure toolkit for the developers so it can build a suite of decentralized applications (dApps). The company has recently built a game from scratch to show the potential capacity in the particular industry. Besides web3, the company is also showing its potential growth in the sectors of blockchain gaming, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs).
As per the report, the company raised a $24M Series A round at a $160M valuation in August last year. Some of the well-known names, like Haun Ventures, Coinbase Ventures and Shopify became investors in its Series A round.
Earlier last week, the company shared about its Layer-2 (L2) protocol, zkSync Era. According to the company, this protocol scales Ethereum with “Zero Knowledge” tech. As this went live on Thirdweb, it “build and deploy smart contracts via its CLI, deploy pre-built smart contracts from its dashboard, and also build apps with powerful SDKs.”
