Stray Kids Invade The U.K. Charts

Popular K-pop group Stray Kids is back on the U.K. charts with their latest releases. Titled 5-Star, their album has quickly climbed up the charts worldwide, and it is anticipated to reach the top spot on the Billboard 200 in a matter of days. The band’s success is not limited to the United States though, as they have also managed to make a mark on the U.K. rankings this frame with both their album and its lead single.

In this week’s edition of the U.K. albums chart, 5-Star enters the chart at No. 40. This achievement is particularly noteworthy for a K-pop group, as they usually do not perform as well in the U.K. compared to the U.S. or especially their home country, South Korea. This week marks the third time that Stray Kids have appeared on the U.K. albums chart, and their latest release has become their highest-charting effort yet.

Stray Kids first made their debut on the U.K. albums chart last year, and despite their initial modest success, they managed to secure a couple of victories. In March 2022, their album Oddinary made its way onto the chart, peaking at No. 95. They quickly returned before the year’s end with Maxident, which performed even better, reaching its peak position at No. 85. Now, with the release of 5-Star, the group has surpassed their previous achievements and scored a noteworthy top 40 placement.

Not only has the album garnered attention, but its lead single, “S-Class,” has also found its way onto the U.K. songs chart. Although it comes in last place, debuting at No. 100, the inclusion of the track anywhere on the list is a significant accomplishment for Stray Kids. In the previous spring, they made history when their song “Maniac” became their first hit in the U.K., peaking at No. 98.

As Stray Kids continues to dominate the charts and captivate listeners worldwide, their latest album’s success reaffirms their status as one of the leading acts in the K-pop industry. In only about a year and a half, the large ensemble has made history several times, and now with a handful of placements on both of the two most important charts in one of the largest markets in the world, it’s clear they are quickly rising to superstar status.
