In a race to attract retail traders, crypto companies are rushing to apply for licenses in Hong Kong. On May 29, Hong Kong-based crypto exchange CoinEX announced the launch of its local platform called ‘BitHK’ in Hong Kong, with plans to submit its Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) application on June 1. Similarly, Huobi’s Hong Kong entity tweeted about offering crypto trading for retail traders on the same day, and on May 29, the exchange filed its VASP application with the Securities & Future Commission (SFC).
