Attorney Morgan calls out Coinbase for apologizing to the Pepe community and ignoring XRP enthusiasts.
Pro-XRP lawyer Bill Morgan has called out Coinbase’s Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal over his recent apology to Pepe (PEPE) community members.
For clarity, Grewal issued a public apology yesterday to Pepe enthusiasts after the San Francisco-based exchange linked the meme-based cryptocurrency to an alt-right hate symbol.
“We screwed up, and we are sorry.” Grewal tweeted yesterday.
Attorney Morgan Reacts
Reacting to the tweet, attorney Morgan said Pepe enthusiasts were lucky to receive an apology from Coinbase’s Chief Legal Officer.
Morgan drew Grewal’s attention to the fact that he has not apologized to XRP community members for halting the trading of the crypto asset on the exchange. Attorney Morgan also said Coinbase has still not apologized for failing to distribute the Songbird (SGB) airdrop to XRP holders.
Lucky them. You never apologised to the XRP community for halting trading of XRP and failing to distribute to your XRP holder customers’ their airdropped Songbird. https://t.co/k5ymmy1cLE

Recall that shortly after the SEC charged Ripple with violating securities laws in December 2020, Coinbase announced that it would no longer support XRP trading on the exchange. The exchange has ignored all calls to relist the sixth-largest crypto asset.
Meanwhile, attorney Morgan has previously commented on Coinbase’s decision to halt XRP trading. After Coinbase responded to SEC’s Wells Notice last month, attorney Morgan asserted that the exchange’s decision to list, delist, and not relist XRP would hurt one of the arguments cited in the response.
Coinbase argued that it uses a robust process to ensure it does not list tokens that constitute a security. However, attorney Morgan said Coinbase should have relisted XRP if it uses a robust method to relist tokens.
