Breath Of The Wild’ Recap Before Playing ‘Tears Of The Kingdom’

One of the biggest video game releases of 2023 drops this Friday. The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom is the long-awaited, much-anticipated sequel to the Nintendo Switch launch title, Breath Of The Wild.

That game came out just over six years ago, which I’m finding a little difficult to wrap my brain around. This was before the launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, before the COVID-19 pandemic, back when the Nintendo Switch was the hot new thing rather than a gaming console desperately in need of a refresh.

I’m super excited to play Tears Of The Kingdom, but a part of me definitely wishes that, like its predecessor, it was the launch title of a brand new (and much more powerful) gaming console. I have three words: Super Nintendo Switch.

Zelda in 4K? Yes, please.

In any case, six years is a long time. I can barely remember last week, so I’m definitely in need of a recap for a game I haven’t played in years. Since this is a direct sequel rather than an all-new Zelda game (which is very out of the ordinary) this is even more crucial before you dive into Tears Of The Kingdom.

Fortunately, Nintendo has put together a super helpful recap video that runs just over six minutes and recaps all the most important story beats from Breath Of The Wild. Check it out:

The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom launches this Friday, May 12th, on the Nintendo Switch. I didn’t get a review copy so I’ll be playing this weekend with everyone else. I can’t wait to play and report back with my impressions.
