See Model, Influencer And Pageant Queen Under The Mask

There’s one less mystery on The Masked Singer after Wednesday night’s quarterfinals.

The remaining contenders—California Roll, Macaw, Medusa and UFO—battled it out on stage to see who’d make it to next week’s semifinals, and when the music was over, UFO was unidentified no more.

And as it turned out, the silver lame-covered singer with one big eye and a flying saucer miniskirt wasn’t anyone the judges had suspected so far.

The episode saw UFO deliver a surprisingly strong cover of Amy Winehouse’s 2007 hit “Tears Dry On Their Own” for “British Invasion Night.” But unfortunately for the space cadet, everyone else put on their best performances, too.

When the votes were tallied, UFO came in last and the celebrity panel gave their final guesses as to who she might be, including Molly Sims, Gigi Hadid, Lily Collins and Rebecca Romijn. However, they soon learned the powerhouse performer was actually a model, actress, influencer, and former Miss Rhode Island, Miss USA and Miss Universe.

Olivia Culpo, 30, beamed as she revealed her identity to everyone’s surprise—especially her pal on the panel, Nicole Scherzinger.

“Babe, I know that you’re the most gorgeous human ever, look at that face, but I didn’t know you could sing,” The Pussycat Dolls singer raved.

Culpo then expressed her gratitude for the experience she’s had over the past three weeks in the competition, saying “Thank you so much for this opportunity. I mean, I really do feel like, although I had a mask on, this is more of my personality that I got to share for the first time. So much of what I have to do is not about that—people don’t want to see your personality. So this was really, really fun for me.”

As for the singers moving on to the semifinals, here are the panelists best guesses about who’s behind those masks as of Wednesday.

California Roll

The five-member sushi roll put on a harmony-heavy version of Radiohead’s 1992 single, “Creep,” that proved they’re still the ones to beat this season. But who are they? After learning one last clue—that the act once received a standing ovation at the White House—Scherzinger guessed the cast of Hamilton, while Ken Jeong wondered if it might be the Miami Sound Machine. But it was Jenny McCarthy who once again gave the best guess where this quintet is concerned, sticking with her early vote for Pentatonix.

Macaw

Macaw went with Elton John’s “Your Song” for the quarterfinals, and inspired a lively debate between the judges. Jeong suspected it was actor Macaulay Culkin beneath the bright feathers, which McCarthy dubbed a “macawful guess” before offering up her own guess with singer Ryan Cabrera. Scherzinger had a hunch it was American Idol Season 7 runner-up David Archuletta, who came out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021.

In response to all of that, Macaw simply said, “After going through a lot of life transitions, I feel like I’m able to spread my wings and show my true colors.”

Medusa

Adele’s 2011 track, “Someone Like You,” was the latest power ballad for Medusa, who earned the widest range of guesses from the judges. After finding out that Medusa is a mom, Robin Thicke swapped his long-running guess of Kesha for Ellie Gould instead. McCarthy believed the serpent queen had to be either Halsey or Ashlee Simpson. And Scherzinger was torn between four choices: Imogen Heap, Evanescence’s Amy Lee, Regina Spektor and Bishop Briggs.

Fans will find out all the answers over the course of the next two episodes.
