It’s unclear whether prosecutors will bring charges, but Hunter Biden’s attorneys met with U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump, last week at the request of Biden’s attorneys—an indication the investigation could be nearing its conclusion.
Biden could reportedly be charged with making false statements in connection with a handgun purchase he made in 2017, when he was admittedly in the throes of a drug addiction.
Prosecutors are also reportedly eyeing two misdemeanor counts against Biden for failing to file taxes in 2016 and 2017 and a felony tax evasion charge in connection to undeclared income, according to multiple previous reports (Biden has reportedly told associates he has since paid the approximately $2 million in back taxes).
