BTS’s Suga Now Claims The Most No. 1 Hits On Billboard’s Rap Sales Chart Among Korean Artists

Suga, one of the seven members of the beloved boy band BTS, has achieved another milestone in his career with his new single “People Pt. 2.” The track debuts in first place on Billboard’s Rap Digital Song Sales chart this week, the ranking of the bestselling rap cuts in the U.S. With this win, he breaks a tie with his friend and bandmate J-Hope and makes history.

This week is not the first time that Suga has ruled the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. He first reached the top spot on the chart with his solo track “Daechwita” in 2020. The following year, he landed another No. 1 with his collaboration with Juice WRLD on “Girl of My Dreams.”

Before this week, Suga and J-Hope were tied with two No. 1s each on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. J-Hope’s solo tracks “Arson” and “On The Street” featuring J. Cole both topped the chart in 2022 and 2023, respectively. However, Suga’s latest success with “People Pt. 2” has allowed him to break the tie and claim the top spot.

According to Luminate, the company that supplies data for the Billboard charts, “People Pt. 2” sold 17,700 copies in its first week on the chart, making it the bestselling song of any genre in America this week. The tune is the lead single from Suga’s upcoming debut album, D-Day, which is set to release on April 21 under his solo moniker, Agust D. The track is a duet with fellow South Korean artist IU, who collects her first No. 1 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart.
