4 Dead, 3 Injured, Suspect In Custody

State police in Yarmouth, Maine, said they have a suspect in custody after a shooting on Interstate 295 left three people injured Tuesday, and in a separate but connected case four people were found dead in a home 25 miles away in Bowdoin, Maine, police said.

One of the three people injured on the highway in Yarmouth, was seriously hurt, Lt. Randall Keaten of the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit told reporters Tuesday, adding that all three victims were transferred to an area hospital.

News outlets reported police carried rifles and were searching the trunk of a car with bullet holes in the windshield.

Police found the suspect in a wooded area off the highway and said there is no further threat to the public, Keaten said.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, police found the four bodies in a home in Bowdoin, in the connected case, the Portland Press Herald reported.

None of the victims nor the suspect has been publicly identified by police.
