Suga Has Now Charted No. 1 Billboard Hits Under Three Names

Just a few days before the release of his debut solo album, Suga has accomplished a rare and impressive feat on a competitive Billboard chart–one which sets him apart from almost every other name that has topped the tally.

Suga’s new single “People Pt. 2,” released under his alter ego Agust D, debuts at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart, which is Billboard’s weekly ranking of the bestselling tracks in the U.S. The tune opens atop the tally with 17,700 copies sold, according to Luminate, whioch provides the data that powers the Billboard charts.

This isn’t the first time that Suga has hit No. 1, but it is the first time he’s done so under his Agust D persona. Suga has placed several hits on the chart as Agust D before, but none have reached the top spot until now.

Suga’s only other solo No. 1 hit on the Digital Song Sales chart was a collaboration with the late rapper Juice WRLD. Their single, “Girl of My Dreams,” was credited to Suga and not Agust D, and it went right to the top of the chart in 2021.

As a member of BTS, Suga has already conquered the Digital Song Sales chart many times, with the band collecting 11 No. 1s on the list so far. This means that Suga has now achieved No. 1 hits on the Digital Song Sales chart in three distinct ways: as a solo artist under the name Agust D, as a solo artist credited as Suga and as one-seventh of BTS.

It’s uncommon for any artist to reach the peak position on the Digital Song Sales chart once, let alone twice with different musical projects. Achieving this feat three times is incredibly rare and highlights the exceptional talent and popularity of Suga.
