Suga Now Claims The Most Top 10 Bestselling Songs Among Korean Soloists In U.S. History

Suga, one of the seven members of the highly acclaimed band BTS, achieves yet another career milestone this week as his new single “People Pt. 2” debuts at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart.

The tune marks his sixth top 10 hit on the Digital Song Sales chart, and its immediate starting point helps him make history among his countrymen. With half a dozen top 10 smashes on the Digital Song Sales chart now included in his discography, Suga breaks the previously-set record for the most placements inside the uppermost region among South Korean soloists.

“People Pt. 2” was selected as the lead track from Suga’s forthcoming debut album D-Day, set to be released in just a few days. It also marks his second No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart, as he previously led the tally under his solo name with rapper Juice WRLD on the collaborative “Girl of My Dreams.”

Before this week, Suga was tied with his BTS bandmates J-Hope and Jimin, as all three artists had accrued five top 10 hits on the Digital Song Sales chart. However, Suga has now pulled ahead of his friends with one more win, at least for the time being.

Only two weeks ago, Jimin joined J-Hope and Suga with his fifth top 10 hit on the Digital Song Sales chart. His single “Like Crazy” debuted at No. 1 on the ranking with the largest sales sum of any track in 2023, and it went on to rule for a second frame.

During their time together, BTS has landed 32 top 10 hits on the Digital Song Sales chart, making them one of the most successful bands ever. The group is currently on hiatus as some members fulfill their mandatory military service back in South Korea. During this current period, many of the seven singers have been keeping busy releasing solo work, including Suga.

“People Pt. 2” was not actually released under the name Suga, but rather with his Agust D brand, which he uses sometimes when working on music without his bandmates. The track opens with just under 17,700 copies sold, according to Luminate, and it also helps featured musician IU earn her first No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart.
