‘Love Is Blind’ Live Reunion Delayed As Netflix Announces ‘Love Is … Late’

It’s been one of Netflix’s most hyped streaming events—the first-ever Love Is Blind live reunion show.

No cutaways, no editing, no waiting—just pure unfiltered drama from the cast of Season 4 of the hit reality TV love quest.

Or at least that was the idea.

But when Sunday night’s 8 p.m. ET showtime rolled around, fans found that the only drama to be found was their own as they faced frustration from not being able to watch the event as promised.

Just two minutes after the special was set to premiere, the streaming giant took to Twitter to announce, “Love is … late,” and that “#LoveIsBlindLive will be on in 15 minutes!”

Netflix followed that up by tweeting a pic of one of Season 4’s “mean girls,” Irina Solomonova, alongside the message, “Promise #LoveIsBlindLive will be worth the wait.”

But while the hint of Solomonova addressing her behavior on the show was indeed a big tease, the wait went on and on.

And as Netflix tried to soothe anxious fans who just wanted to know if all was well with perfect couple Brett Brown and Tiffany Pennywell after their wedding (and to find out if Jackie Bonds would actually show up to the big event at all), those would-be viewers were making their voices heard on social media, too, by lampooning the streaming fail with the best Love Is Blind burns.

Even Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got in on the act, referencing Brown’s pants panic from the finale and wondering if the fastest tailor in the biz, Lucia, could take care of the problem, adding, “I believe in her.

Over on Reddit’s live viewing thread, fans complained that the wait and disappointment felt like “buying tickets to Taylor Swift” and many voiced that the delay meant they’d likely miss the live event all together when and if it finally aired, since they had an important TV funeral to attend at 9 pm ET on HBO.

“Netflix is going back to their roots and sending the reunion in the mail,” one Redditor quipped.

Another added, “Blockbuster would never.”

As for what caused the delay, Love Is Blind co-host Vanessa Lachey called it a “so 2023” issue in a video she shared to Instagram.

“Apparently, y’all, everybody broke the internet to see this reunion!” she shouted from the set. She added that, “We’re ready to roll, we’ve just got to figure this out.”

However, as of publication (more than an hour after the promised start time), they had yet to do that.

Update: On Sunday night, at 9:29 p.m. ET, Netflix tweeted, “To everyone who stayed up late, woke up early, gave up their Sunday afternoon… we are incredibly sorry that the Love is Blind Live Reunion did not turn out as we had planned. We’re filming it now and we’ll have it on Netflix as soon as humanly possible. Again, thank you and sorry.”
