Blackpink’s Jisoo Joins A Small Club Of Solo Female Korean Artists With Her First Billboard Top 10 Sales Hit

Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart this week features two South Korean solo musicians holding the top and bottom spots inside the top 10, bookending the highest tier on the tally. One artist managed to keep his place on the ranking from last week, while the other debuts in last place in that uppermost echelon.

This week, Jisoo, best known as one of the four members of the popular K-pop girl group Blackpink, earns her first top 10 entry on the Digital Song Sales chart as a solo artist with her single “Flower.” Luminate shared data that reveals that the track sold 5,700 copies in its first week.

As the tune opens at No. 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart, Jisoo becomes one of only five South Korean solo female artists to have placed inside the top 10 of the purchase-only ranking at any time.

In this feat, Jisoo joins two of her three bandmates who have already made a similar impact in the U.S. market. Blackpink star Lisa has had two solo efforts, “Lalisa” and “Money,” that have broken into the top 10. “Lalisa” rose as high as No. 6, while “Money” reached No. 8.

Rosé, another Blackpink singer, has scored one placement in the top 10 with her single “On the Ground” peaking at No. 10. “Gone,” another one of her solo hits, only missed the top 10 by a few spots, as it stalled at No. 15.

Aside from Blackpink’s members, there are two other South Korean solo artists who have already managed to make it into the top 10 of the Digital Song Sales chart. Youjeen’s collaboration with BTS’s RM, “Winter Flower,” dominated the chart in 2022, which landed her her only top 10 win on the chart.

RM himself also made a recent return to the top 10 with his song, “Smoke Sprite,” in March 2023. He was accompanied by So!YoOn!, who landed her first major Billboard hit with the track. The song peaked at No. 9 on the Digital Song Sales chart, helping her join this exclusive club.
