BTS And Jimin Match The Beatles And The Supremes On The Billboard Charts

BTS has once again made history on the Hot 100 chart as Jimin’s new single “Like Crazy” debuts in the top spot. Not only has Jimin achieved his first solo No. 1 on the incredibly important ranking, but he has also helped BTS accomplish a feat that only two other acts in history have managed.

According to Billboard, the South Korean septet has become just
just
the third group in U.S. history to have six No. 1 hits on the Hot 100…and then for at least one of the members to land a solo leader as well. As “Like Crazy” opens in first place, BTS is now in the same company as two of the most iconic groups in music history, The Beatles and The Supremes.

The Beatles were the first group to achieve this specific feat. They scored a total of 20 No. 1 singles on the Hot 100 during their time together. That sum remains the most leaders among any acts, with Mariah Carey coming in very close with 19. Even after they disbanded, all four members continued to achieve great success. Paul McCartney earned the most solo No. 1 hits with nine, followed by George Harrison with three, and John Lennon and Ringo Starr with two each.

The Supremes scored an impressive 12 No. 1 hits on the Hot 100, but after Diana Ross left the group to pursue a solo career, she was able to add six more No. 1 singles to her discography.

BTS has also had an impressive run on the Hot 100, having collected six No. 1 hits in just two years. They landed three chart-toppers in 2020 and repeated that same feat in 2021. Now, with Jimin’s solo No. 1, they have become one of only three groups in history to have six No. 1 hits and to see one of its members also reach the summit on that chart.

Jimin is not only the first member of BTS to achieve a solo No. 1 hit, he is also the only one to reach the top 10 on the Hot 100. His debut solo EP Face debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, almost giving him a coveted chart double.
