BTS Member Suga Announces New Documentary ‘SUGA: Road To D-DAY’

With just a few weeks to go before he unleashes his latest solo project, BTS superstar Suga has shared even more good news. The musician has a documentary coming, and its arrival at the same time as the album it partially chronicles is sure to make for excellent viewing for superfans who want to know everything they can about the man behind the music and how it all came to be.

SUGA: Road to D-DAY will be available on both Disney+ and Weverse on the same day as the album, April 21. The name of the documentary seems to have a double meaning. It focuses on Suga’s journey in writing, producing and recording D-Day, while also showcasing his time traveling and being on the road.

According to a statement shared by his label Big Hit, the movie “captures Suga on a musical journey following his road trip around the world” and “takes the viewers through the ins and outs of his creative process.”

D-Day is being billed as Suga’s debut album, though it’s not his first solo studio project. He has already released two full sets–Agust D in 2016 and D-2 in 2020–and both were shared under the moniker Agust D. The Grammy nominee uses that label when dropping music outside of his duties with BTS. The documentary uses the name Suga, but the album will be shared as Agust D.

Ahead of the release of D-Day and the documentary, Suga is set to drop the lead single from the album on April 7. The single is titled “People Pt. 2” and features fellow South Korean musician IU. The two have worked together before, and clearly they enjoy the process, as they’re back for more.

In addition to the single, the album and the documentary, Suga is also preparing for his first global tour. The international trek will feature 23 shows in the U.S., Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, and South Korea, and it runs from late April through June.

Suga is the latest member of BTS to film his own documentary. His bandmate J-Hope premiered a musical film on Disney+ earlier this year titled J-Hope in the Box, which followed the production of his solo album Jack in the Box.
