Does ‘The Super Mario Bros Movie’ Have Post-Credits Scenes?

The Super Mario Bros Movie hits theaters today. The new film from Nintendo and Despicable Me studio, Illumination, brings Mario and Luigi to the big screen, along with a colorful cast of characters including Toad, Bowser and Princess Peach. The Mushroom Kingdom has never looked so good—or so colorful.

The reviews are in, and while it seems that most fans of the games love the movie, non-gamers are a little less enthusiastic, and the critic score on Rotten Tomatoes currently leaves a lot to be desired. I’ll be very interested in seeing how audiences rate the film, but my guess is much higher.

If you’re going—or perhaps already in the theater wondering if you should head to the bathroom when the credits roll—you may be wondering if The Super Mario Bros Movie has any post-credits scenes.

Without spoiling anything, the answer to that question is yes. The movie actually has both a mid-credits scene and a post-credits scene, both of which are worth sticking around for especially since the runtime is a wonderfully brief 1 hour and 32 minutes—much shorter than many movies these days!

Super Mario Bros Movie Official Synopsis

A Brooklyn plumber named Mario travels through the Mushroom Kingdom with a princess named Peach and an anthropomorphic mushroom named Toad to find Mario’s brother, Luigi, and to save the world from a ruthless fire-breathing Koopa named Bowser.
