Tom Bergeron Says ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Is In ‘Good Hands’ After Tyra Banks Exit

When Dancing With the Stars returns for Season 32, it will do so with a new co-host at the helm—and that emcee just got the ultimate ballroom blessing.

Former pro competitor and two-time champ Julianne Hough will join current co-host Alfonso Ribeiro following Tyra Banks’s exit from the series, which is a good thing, according to Tom Bergeron.

The 67-year-old Emmy winner, who hosted the foxtrot and quickstep-filled reality TV show for 28 seasons, took to Instagram this week to celebrate the change.

“Glad the show’s in good hands,” Bergeron wrote. “Their feet ain’t bad, either.”

Two photos appeared alongside his message. In the first one, taken during his time on the show, he smiles as he’s hugged by both Julianne Hough and her brother, pro hoofer turned DWTS judge Derek Hough. The shot below that one show’s Bergeron beaming beside Ribeiro, who was the winning the star on Season 19 of the ballroom bash.

New co-host Hough responded to Bergeron’s post with both gratitude and reverence.

“These feet could never fill your shoes, but I’ll bring my own and hope I do you proud!” the 34-year-old replied. “I absolutely learned from the best! I completely and utterly adore you @tombergeron ❤️❤️❤️”

She’s far from the only one to adore him, as other responses from his fans and followers proved.

“An improvement but still not the best,” one wrote of Bergeron’s comment on the hosting news. “The BEST IS YOU! Always was and always will be!”

“You literally made the show Tom,” another added.

Yet another proposed that, if Bergeron can’t return to hosting the show, he should at least take a turn as a celebrity competitor on DWTS.

The Disney Plus series announced that Hough would be joining the hosting team on March 20, just days after Banks said she’d be leaving.

As for Banks, she won’t be the only familiar face to be absent from the ballroom when Dancing With the Stars returns.

Head judge Len Goodman, who’s been a part of the show’s judging panel since day one, announced his retirement from the series at the end of Season 31. And longtime pro dancer and two-time champion Cheryl Burke delivered her last dance at the close of the season, too.

Even Season 31’s winning pro, veteran dancer Mark Ballas, who led Charli D’Amelio to a mirror-ball trophy, recently revealed his Dancing With the Stars days are over, too.
