Yuga Labs Hires Chief Operating Officer of Activision Blizzard

Yuga Labs, the startup behind Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), appointed Daniel Alegra as its new Chief Executive Officer. Before joining Yuga, Daniel was working with globally renowned gaming giant Activision Blizzard as President and Chief Operating Officer.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) is a unique collection of 10k Bored Ape Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). These BAYC NFTs are unique digital collectibles built on the Ethereum blockchain.

BAYC NFT collection gained popularity in 2021. Justin Bieber, Tom Brady, Stephen Curry, Post Malone and Marshmello are some of the well known personalities that hold BAYC NFTs. 

Alegra has worked with Google as vice president of Latin America; he was later promoted to President of Asia Pacific. He was later appointed President for global and strategic partnerships at Google.  

Alegra left Google in April 2020. At that time, he served as the President of Global Retail Shopping and Payments. He joined Activision Blizzard in April 2020 and worked for 3 years and recently joined Yuga Labs, succeeding Micole Muniz.  

Daniel informed his followers about his new role as Chief Executive Officer at Yuga labs in his Twitter post on March 31, 2023.  

According to several data aggregators, Yuga Labs is one of the major players dominating the NFT (Non- Fungible Token) sector. BAYC NFTs are one of the highest-selling NFTs in the market. The Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) is another popular stable of NFTs from Yuga Labs.

Hiring Upswing In Crypto Industry 

Coinbase recently hired Lucas Matheson, the former executive of e-commerce giant Shopify as country director for Canada to execute their expansion plan. 

Blockchain protocol Algorand appointed Matthew Comm as its Chief Financial Officer. Matthew worked for three years and two months with Commons Partners LLC. 

Also, Gemini, the troubled crypto exchange, hired Tyler Skelton as its new head of Finance in January 2023. Skelton had worked with Bank of America as Assistant Vice President of Corporate Credit Reporting and Allowance.
