Mizuno Tennis Launching Wave Enforce Tour Model For Baseliners

Mizuno has embraced all things Wave technology in tennis. The latest on-court performance shoe with the lateral stability and shock absorption tech comes in the form of the April release of the Wave Enforce Tour AC, a brand-new model for 2023.

“This is the ideal shoe for powerful competitors who love to dictate points from the baseline,” said Dave Dorsey, Mizuno tennis sales manager. “Whereas the Exceed Tour is more for players who attack from all over the court, the Enforce Tour is designed for maximum impact from the baseline. It is the most comfortable, most durable and most stable model in our line.”

Known for fusing the brand’s running know-how into performance tennis, Mizuno has tried to bridge the gap once again between comfortable stability with lightweight performance. “It is a little heavier than the Exceed Tour,” Dorsey says, “but still one of, if not the lightest, shoes in the baseline segment.”

And it comes thanks to the technology under the foot.

The Mizuno Enerzy Core material is the densest Enerzy material that comes from the Mizuno line of cushioning, a product first introduced in the brand’s running lines. While heavier than the other Enerzy materials, the rebound and comfort levels are greater, Dorsey says, leading to a better step-in comfort. The Enerzy Core material is featured under the heel and the Enerzy technology continues throughout the foot, with the lighter weight Enerzy foam running under the ball of the foot and throughout the insole. Mizuno also adds an extra midsole material designed to offer responsive cushioning with maximum weight savings.

“Enerzy Core is one of Mizuno’s newest and most advanced technologies,” Dorsey says. “It is superior cushioning and rebound material, which is also extremely lightweight. When combined with the midsole foam and the proprietary Mizuno Wave plate, it supplies tour-level stability and energy transfer along with a level of cushioning that is rare in a shoe this light.”

The Enerzy material couples with Mizuno Wave technology, another running-turned-tennis technology. A plate that uniformly disperses shock throughout the sole, aiding cushioning, stability and efficient energy transfer for quicker on-court movement, the Wave technology also increases ankle stability and shock redistribution, according to Dorsey.

Additionally in the Enforce, The Dyna-Heel Lock system at the heel of the shoe was designed to help lock the heel and ankle into place, aiding in stability.

The outrigger outsole features the brand’s DuRubber and comes in a wider, flatter design meant to improve stability on the baseline, even when sliding. The outsole also features a six-month warranty.

The upper is a blend of TPU and mesh.

The April 2023 launch of the $135 shoe initially features colorways planned for athletes wearing the brand at the French Open. The Roland Garros colorways include a collegiate blue and white for men and a turquoise and pink for women. Early mainline colorways feature a white and blue for men and a white and turquoise for women.
