NEWARK, NEW JERSEY – AUGUST 26: Taylor Swift attends the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards at Prudential … [+]
Taylor Swift has made history on the Billboard 200 chart this week with an impressive achievement, one which has only been managed by one person before her.
This time around, seven of Swift’s albums are found in the top 40–simultaneously. This coming chart week marks the first time the singer-songwriter has managed to accomplish such a milestone, and while she’s not quite in a league of her own, there is simply no one else in the business right now able to muster this kind of showing.
Swift is only the second act to chart at least seven albums concurrently in the top 40 on the Billboard 200. The first artist to achieve this was the legendary Whitney Houston, who achieved the record posthumously in 2012, according to Billboard. Swift has the distinction of being the first living artist to accomplish this feat, and her performance on the most competitive albums tally in the largest music market in the world once again cementing her status as one of the most successful musicians of her time.
As if it wasn’t enough to have just seven albums in the top 40, Swift also has nine titles in total on the Billboard 200. Below the important top 40 region comes Fearless (Taylor’s Version) at No. 52 and then Speak Now at No. 69.
While filling as many spots as she currently does is certainly a significant achievement, it is not unusual for the superstar. In the past, she has occupied even more real estate on the chart. In fact, she once filled 10 spaces at once, which is one of the most impressive accumulations at one time in Billboard history.
The reason behind Swift’s surge on the Billboard 200 can be attributed, at least in part, to renewed attention in her catalog–spurred by her highly anticipated The Eras Tour, which began a few days ago. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the start of the trek, which is easily one of the most highly anticipated concerts of 2023.
Here’s a look at where all of Swift’s seven titles appear inside the top 40 on the Billboard 200.
No. 3 – Midnights
No. 13 – Lover
No. 14 – Folklore
No. 19 – 1989
No. 22 – Red (Taylor’s Version)
No. 26 – Reputation
No. 31 – Evermore
