Dave Alves has been named President and Chief Operating Officer of Kohl’s effective April 2023. In the role, he will be responsible for Kohl’s enterprise operation including the nearly 1200 stores, the global supply chain and the distribution centers, the real estate portfolio, risk management and compliance functions. He will report to CEO Tom Kingsbury.
In greeting Alves, Tom Kingsbury said: ”We are thrilled to have Dave part of our senior leadership team as we drive the business forward. Kohl’s is a tremendous company with a strong and loyal customer base, and Davis is joining us at a time when we are elevating our business and our offerings for the next generation of shoppers. His deep retail background in department stores and off-price and his experience across centers global markets will be a great addition to our team.”

Retail is a dynamic and fast paced industry that must constantly evolve with consumer preferences and behaviors and I think Kohl’s does a great job staying true to its heritage while pushing the retail experience forward. Alves has more than 30-year experience in the retail industry. Most recently he was president and chief retail officer for the Beal’s Retail Group. In that role he oversaw all Beal’s stores as well as Beal’s Outlet Stores, Burkes Outlet Stores and Home Centers. Prior to Beal’s, he held positions at Canada and Europe TJX Corp., Hudson Bay and Sterling Stores.
Based on the announcement, the merchants continue to report to Tom Kingsbury, CEO.
