Streaming service Peacock has announced a second season renewal for the murder mystery-themed drama Poker Face from T-Street, MRC Television and Animal Pictures. Headlined by Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cale, a casino worker on the run who entangles herself into several mysterious deaths of strangers along the way, the series is described as a “stylized character-driven, case-of-the-week mystery with each episode adapting the detective story style exhibited in the classic whodunit Columbo.”
“Poker Face is one of those rare, undeniable shows that we all fell in love with from the start, but the critical acclaim and viewer response has been beyond our wildest dreams,” said Susan Rovner, chairman of entertainment content for television and streaming at NBCUniversal. “Working alongside the creative genius of Rian Johnson, Natasha Lyonne and Ram Bergman, along with our partners at MRC and T-Street, has been a spectacular ride. We can’t wait to hit the road for another season as we continue to build momentum across Peacock’s originals slate.”
Debuting on January 26, the 10-episode first season will premiere its seventh episode tonight, with the season finale dropping on Peacock on March 9. A haven for guest stars, the season one roster of familiar faces appearing on Poker Face include Adrien Brody, Benjamin Bratt, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stephanie Hsu, Judith Light, Nick Nolte, David Castañeda, Danielle Macdonald, Cherry Jones, Dascha Polanco, Lil Rel Howery, Ellen Barkin, Chloë Sevigny, Jameela Jamil, Simon Helberg, S. Epatha Merkerson, Ron Perlman and Tim Meadows.
Poker Face is produced by Natasha Lyonne, Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, Nena Rodrigue and Iain B. MacDonald. Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Maya Rudolph and Danielle Renfrew Behrens serve as co-executive producers.
Actively in search of its first breakout hit, Peacock has previously given second season renewals to Bel-Air, Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, Wolf Like Me, Killing It, Dr. Death and We Are Lady Parts.
