Hackers continue to hunt
The account targeted by the hackers belonged to French Municipal Councillor Quentin Feres, according to media reports. This wasn’t the first case that happened in the crypto industry indicating a scam.
On february 7, 2023, the scammers named with KPU KUDUS twitter account tweeted: “XRP is ready to huge PUMP .To support our community, Brad Garlinghouse Ripple XRP CEO initiated XRP GIVEAWAY First come, first served: Click Here Note: you can take a gift only once. Please hurry up!”
Not a new thing
As in July 2020, accounts of Joe Biden, Elon Musk, and Apple were hacked simultaneously, and remains a “broadly targeted hack.” The bad actors used the accounts to ill-influence millions of followers in order to expand the web of crypto fraud.
The accounts being hijacked were posted with multiple tweets, making users take action on those. Like promotion of illegal wallet addresses claiming a few bucks will be valued doubled in a few hours — a very common scam technique.
Amid this, 46th U.S. President Joe Biden, when hacked, posted that “I am giving back to the community. All Bitcoin sent to the address below will be sent back doubled! If you send $1,000, I will send back $2,000. Only doing this for 30 minutes.”
According to The Verge, Elon Musk’s was first to be hacked by hackers. Where the voice of culprits spoke on his behalf in a tweet- “I’m feeling generous because of COVID-19,” continued to add “I’ll double any BTC payment sent to my BTC address for the next hour. Good luck, and stay safe out there!”
According to media reports, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and others responsible authorities ran multiple law enforcement investigations. The drawback of exploitation vulnerability in Twitter, making it fall into the wrong hands. The security issues have harmed social media’s platform users and put them at risk.
In those days following the fraudulent-scheme post on Twitter, including accounts Mike Bloomberg, Uber, Warren Buffet, Barack Obama, Bill Gates Jeff Bezos and Kim Kardashian West faking started posting on crypto fraud, according to BBC News.
Security issues— hurdle in bluebird’s fly
The “bluebird” of Musk, was promised a level of high-security after he acquired the platform back in October 2022 in $44 billion. Soon after he became the sole owner, he fired CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, Policy Head Vijaya Gadde, and others. He announced about laying off massive staff, or offering long committed work hours.
Recently, Dogecoin (DOGE) skyrocketed with news of Twitter chances to integrate it as a payment system, this would make the platform more concerned about crypto-related concerns. Crypto industry is full of controversy, from Bitcoin’s creator Satoshi Nakamoto to many more.
