Topline
Against the backdrop of the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade being decided, thousands gathered on the National Mall in Washington D.C. Friday for the annual March For Life demonstration against abortion rights, just seven months after the Supreme Court overturned the landmark abortion rights decision.
Key Facts
Since Roe was overturned this summer, several states have strengthened abortion protections, including Kansas, where voters went to the polls this summer to block lawmakers from banning abortions.
The march ended between the Supreme Court and the U.S. Capitol—for the first time this year—an acknowledgement of the Dobbs victory, organizers say, and a signal to Congress that there is still more to be done.
Among the headliners were Rep. Steve Scalise, the U.S. House Majority leader, and former NFL coach Tony Dungy.
